🌱 There’s nothing like the fresh smell of boiling jam from homegrown raspberries and redcurrants…

Tried out three new Indonesian recipes tonight: Bebotok Ikan (spicy fish packets), Sayur Lodeh (vegetables in coconut milk) and tempeh in peanut sauce.

Yotam Ottolenghi is definitely one of my favourite chefs. I tried two new recipes tonight: potato gratin with coconut, chilli and lime. And Broccoli ‘two ways’ (quick-pickled raw stems, roasted florets) with chilli, cumin and basil. Amazing combination of flavours!

Just made my first (vegetarian) Pissaladière, a pretty simple dish of flatbread / pizza dough with caramelised onions and olives, apparently from the cuisine of Nice. Very tasty!

I always thought Wentelteefje was a peculiar Dutch name for a dish as simple as French Toast. It appears though that it has a peculiar name in many more languages. No matter what the name: our love for pan fried bread soaked in milk, sugar, eggs and cinnamon seems universal!

For some reason, the Brewdog beer brand is very popular over here. This ‘post modern classic’ Punk IPA certainly is tasty.

Made a remarkably easy – and remarkably tasty – dinner tonight, with gnocchi, Brussels sprouts, pesto arrabiata, vegetarian chicken, cottage cheese and lemon. Gnocchi taste so much better when baked instead of cooked!

Our first take on baking simple white bread rolls didn’t turn out too bad!🍞

Enjoyed preparing an Asian meal today (the last normal one this year..!), with an attempt on my own vegetarian version of the national dish of Laos: Laap. Luckily, it was to the liking of the family.

🌱 Made a simple yet very tasty pumpkin soup from the biggest pumpkin we harvested from our garden.

Homemade potato chips made by me and my youngest daughter. Oven baked and with a top secret recipe for the seasoning. Took us a large part of the morning. Consumed in under 5 minutes while watching our next Marvel movie with the family.

Enjoying a relaxing day at home. Making a lacto-fermented mango chutney, while watching the summer olympics.

Made a variation on a Coulibiac, a stuffed pastry shell with salmon, cabbage, rice, eggs, mushrooms, onions, parsley and dill.
